Is the Tineco A11 Hero a good vacuum cleaner?
With over 12,000 reviews on Amazon, many raving about the ease of the vacuum and good suction power, we decided to give it a try. Initially, we were looking into buying a Dyson stick vacuum, but as the Tineco comes at a fraction of the price of the Dyson, we decided to go ahead and give it a try.
Our Tineco A11 Hero review contains the following:
- Advantages of the Tineco A11 Hero
- Battery life and suction
- Standing dock and accessories
- Best vacuums for pets?
- Verdict
Advantages of the Tineco A11 Hero
The most significant selling point of the Tineco vacuum is that it’s lightweight, easy, and convenient to pull out of the closet. In addition, it’s relatively quiet, and it also features a bagless bin that makes it easy to empty and clean.
The vacuum comes with several accessories such as brushes, a hair cleaning tool, and a crevice tool. In addition, the vacuums allow for detaching the canister, making it easy to clean a staircase or other hard-to-reach areas.
The vacuum also has an LED indicator that lights up while you vacuum. This neat little feature allows you to better see under furniture or in dark corners.
Battery life and suction
There are two levels of suction—the normal suction setting and a ‘max’ mode setting. In the normal setting, the vacuum can run for about 25 minutes. Suction on the ‘max’ setting (you have to hold the button in) will allow you to do a quick carpet clean, but it also drains the battery (run time is only about 10 minutes on this setting). Our biggest disappointment with this vacuum has been the suction power. It can’t vacuum up small pieces like dry cat food or other pea-size food crumbs. That’s frustrating!
Standing dock and accessories
The vacuum has a docking station as it can stand on itself. It works if you can put it away in a closet – but otherwise, it’s frustrating that it tips and can’t be mounted to a wall.
The vacuum comes with a number of attachments, including specialized brushes, multi-tasker, high-torque power brush, mini brush, 2-in-1 dusting brush, and a hair cleaning tool and crevice tool. Unfortunately, we really only use one of the brushes when we vacuum our staircase.
Best vacuums for pets?
There are a lot of vacuums sold promising to be “great for pet hair” in the product description. Likewise, the Tineco vacuum cleaner is also “great for pet cleaning.” We wanted to put this claim to the test—the hard way.
We have mostly hardwood floors, a few area rugs, and then, most importantly, two very fluffy, long-haired cats. We vacuum unimaginable amounts of cat hair daily that our tiny fluff balls shred.
We had high hopes for the vacuum cleaner. So many reviews on Amazon raved about the suction power, and we desperately needed a powerful enough vacuum to get the cat hair, dust, dirt, and cat litter that ends up on our floors. The vacuum is decent at getting most of the cat litter from the floors. However, we quickly learned that unless you flip the vacuum upside down while still on, the cat litter will fall back onto the floor once the power is off. That’s annoying! Also, the vacuum is too weak to clean our couch (though we have a dark sofa and two white cats, so it might be too much to ask for a lightweight vacuum.)
Review Verdict
We like that the cordless stick vacuum cleaner is lightweight, ready to go and that you don’t have to drag out the bulky, old-fashioned vacuum cleaner and constantly have to switch to different outlets. However, because the battery only lasts about 25 minutes, the vacuum is better for small homes.
Our review verdict of the Tineco A11 Hero Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner is that it’s excellent for small homes and light pet clean-ups. Still, ultimately it doesn’t have enough suction to stand toe-to-toe with the deep cleaning of a full-sized vacuum.
We wouldn’t recommend it if you’re expecting the vacuum to compare to that of a full-sized vacuum.
But we do recommend it if you’re looking for a vacuum for day-to-day maintenance. It’s a good value choice for a single-person household without animals and comes much cheaper than a Dyson at only a minimal drop in power and quality.
Alternatives to the Tineco A11 Hero Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner
In the category of cordless stick vacuums, the Tineco A11 does well and is the best alternative to Dyson. However, if we were to pick another cordless vacuum, we would choose one of the following.

Dyson V8 Animal Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner vs Tineco A11 Hero
If you can get to terms with the color, the Dyson V8 is the best pick of the Dyson vacuums – cost considered. It’s more expensive, but you get more suction (and purple) for the price. The Dyson V8 is great for pet hair, but as the case was with the Tineco, it won’t fully replace your old-school vacuum. However, you’ll need to use your corded vacuum less often with the Dyson than with the Tineco A11 Hero.

APOSEN “4 in 1” vs Tineco A11 Hero
APOSEN is by far the best cheap cordless vacuum cleaner under $100. Despite its very reasonable price tag, it’s a really great vacuum. Like the Tineco A11 Hero, it won’t fully replace your full-size vacuum, but it performs almost on par with the Tineco at nearly half the price. Just ignore their broken English at Amazon – APOSEN is a lot better at manufacturing cheap cordless vacuum cleaners.
