Why you should use a baby wrap
We are huge fans of babywearing. There’s nothing like snuggling your little one so close to your chest. On top of that, wearing your baby provides numerous benefits for parents and baby.
Research shows that babywearing soothes the baby, promotes bonding, helps regulate the baby’s heartbeat, reduces infant crying, and calms the baby by mimicking the womb. Research also shows that babywearing may reduce postpartum depression. Beyond that, it keeps your hands free. And every parent knows that is a huge win it itself.
Babywearing allows you to go where strollers can’t, you can do chores, run a quick errand, go for a walk while guzzling much needed coffee or even something to eat without trying to balance your baby in your arms.
We think you get the point. But what wrap should you get? We’ll tell you…
What is the Solly Wrap?
Essentially the Solly Wrap is a long piece of fabric that you wrap around your body in a specific way. It’s very easy once you get the hang of it (10 minutes the first time, 5 the next and soon you don’t even think about it). There are easy to follow guides and tutorials on the website.
The fabric is lightweight, buttery soft and breathable which makes it comfortable to wear even if you live in a warmer climate. It can be used from newborn and until 25 lbs. Solly Wraps have no added stretch, but they are still “stretchy” wraps and provides a lovely snug womb-like environment for your baby. This makes it particularly great with newborns and it also allows for nursing.
The Solly Wrap is made in the US from sustainably sourced materials from the pulp of Austrian Beechwood trees.
We like that it fits parents of all sizes (so the wrap can be shared) though the fabric is quite long so if you’re on the short side just tie the ends up. Both parents in our household have used it without any problems.
Solly Wrap carry positions
The Solly Wrap can only be used in one carry position: front-inward (embracing the mother/father). The front-inward position is perfect for newborns and younger infants and the snug fit of the wrap helps your little one feel safe and secure. Some experts believe that, in most circumstances, the optimal carrying position is the front-inward position.
What ages is the Solly Wrap good for?
Solly Wraps are designed for the first year of a baby’s life from newborn up to 25 lbs. That said, most wrap wearers will get the most use out of it in the first months as the weight of carrying a bigger baby may cause some back and shoulder strain.
As your baby gets bigger and heavier (usully around 6-8 months of age) many parents find it natural to move on to a carrier with more support and positioning options. We have listed our favorite carriers for older children at the end of the review.

Solly Wrap Review: Verdict
We love the Solly Wrap. It’s the perfect go-to wrap for newborns and we used it day in and day out for the first 6 months of our daughter’s life.
Once you get the hang of the one-piece wrap it’s very easy to wrap. We love that the Solly Wrap is so lightweight, silky soft and comfortable and it’s a godsend that it goes in the washing machine. We give it our strong buy recommendation and five thumbs up.
